Authorities remain committed to delivering justice and ensuring the safety of students and educational institutions across the region.

Omoro: Police in Omoro District are investigating a deeply disturbing incident in which two female students of Lux Senior Secondary School lost their lives in a suspected arson attack on their hostel.

According to ASP Ongom David Mudong, the Aswa West Regional Police Spokesperson, the attack occurred during the nights of April 17th and 18th, 2025, when unknown assailants reportedly broke into the girls’ hostel at Lux Primary and Secondary School, located in Labora Subcounty, Omoro District, and set it on fire.

The victims, both juveniles whose identities have been withheld for privacy and security reasons, tragically perished in the blaze.

The homicide unit at Omoro Central Police Station (CPS) is leading the investigation. Authorities have launched a manhunt for the unknown suspects, describing the crime as a heinous and deliberate act of murder by arson.

ASP Mudong called on the public to remain calm and avoid speculation as investigations continue.

“We ask the bereaved families and the community at large to be patient and allow the police to conduct thorough investigations to bring the perpetrators to justice,” he said.

He also addressed concerns over social media behavior in the wake of the incident, warning against the circulation of inciteful content that could potentially spark tribal tensions or public unrest.

“Spreading false or inflammatory information online not only disrupts investigations but poses a risk to community peace and safety,” he emphasized.

Authorities remain committed to delivering justice and ensuring the safety of students and educational institutions across the region.
