The suspect has been identified as Martin Kipsang, alias Chesebe, a resident of Rorok Village, Kubulwo Parish, Amanang Sub County, Bukwo District.

The suspect was netted on Thursday at around 7 a.m. The arrest was executed by the Police Flying Squad, which was dispatched from the Directorate of Crime Intelligence in Kampala in collaboration with Kubuli Criminal Investigations detectives.

‘’The arrest of Betty Cherotich, 31, the late Abiriga’s wife, led to the swift arrest of the prime suspect whom she allegedly hired to kill her husband,’’ one of the detectives told New Vision.

Upon his arrest, Kipsang reportedly told security that it was Cherotich who hired him to kill Abiriga with his colleague (names withheld) and pay them 1 million shillings.

Security is working around the clock to track down another male suspect who is still on the run.

The late Abiriga will be laid to rest this afternoon at his ancestral home in Tumvia village, Tara Sub County, Maracha district, in the West Nile subregion.
