Who was Dr. Abiriga, the murdered Masindi DHO?

He has been attached to Masindi district general hospital since then, and on November 14, 2022, he was assigned the duty of acting as the district health officer until his death.

Maracha: Dr. Jino Abiriga was born on March 9, 1971, in Maracha district, West Nile.

He went to Ofude Primary School from 1976 to 1978 (P1-P3), dropped out shortly due to the Amin Iddi Dada War, then resumed studies from 1982 to 1983 (P4-P5).

Ofude Primary School is located in Tara Sub County, Maracha District.

Later, Abiriga joined Kololo Primary School for his P6 and P7 from 1941 to 1985 and scored 5 aggregates.

After primary seven, he joined St. Joseph College Ombach from 1986 to 1989 for 0’level and scored 14 aggregates. He joined A’level at the same school from 1990 to 1992 and did sciences (PCB/Sub Math).

He joined Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) on government sponsorship from 1992 to 1997 and did human medicine.

After the internship, he worked at St. Philip Otravu Catholic Chapel. In 1999, Abiriga was enrolled by the government and deployed at Masindi district general hospital as a medical officer.

Abiriga married and wed Betty Driciru, and other concubines include Mbabazi Mukiiga, barred with him one child; the late Baako Rose, three children; Alice Muteso; and Betty Cherotich (the suspect), barred with him one child.

The slain Dr. Jino Abiriga had 10 children in total, as revealed by Wilson Afedra, the deceased’s brother.

Dr. Abiriga started services at Masindi district local government on April 3, 1999, as a medical officer and was promoted to senior medical officer on November 14, 2008.

He has been attached to Masindi district general hospital since then, and on November 14, 2022, he was assigned the duty of acting as the district health officer until his death.
