Police officer arrested for defiling a 1-year-old juvenile

‘’The mother who allegedly became suspicious checked on the victim and realized that something had been done to her,’’ she said.

Arua: The territorial police of Arua Central Business Division are investigating a case of aggravated defilement where Otim Thomas, 49, a police officer attached to PSU, allegedly defiled a female juvenile aged 1 year and 9 months at Arua Police barracks on the 9th of this month.

The West Nile Region Police Spokesperson, Josephine Angucia, explains that on the fateful day, around midday, the suspect called the victim to his room in the neighborhood at the barracks. After some minutes, the victim went back to her mother, crying that the suspect had done bad manners to her.

‘’The mother who allegedly became suspicious checked on the victim and realized that something had been done to her,’’ she said.

Angucia told this publication that the victim’s mother registered a case of aggravated defilement at Arua Arua Central Business Division, adding that the victim’s statement was obtained through the mother.

The regional police mouthpiece added that the victim was examined and attended to at Arua Regional Referral Hospital for medical attention on Police Form 3A.

‘’The suspect arrested was also examined on police form 24A; the scene was visited and documented,’’ she further added.

Angucia said the case file was compiled and forwarded to the resident state attorney for perusal and legal advice as the suspect remains detained pending inquiries into the matter under Arua CBD CRB 900/2023.
