UNATU speaks out on document urging teachers to strike

Kampala: The Uganda National Teachers’ Union (UNATU) has distanced itself from a document making the rounds on social media urging teachers not to report to schools come Monday, February 5, 2024, when the first term begins.

UNATU General Secretary, Mr. Filbert Baguma, has urged teachers to report to work as scheduled.

Baguma disclosed that the document is not from them; it is just fake, stressing that if they release a document, they make it official.

‘’That document is not from us, it is just fake, if we release a document, we make it official,’’ he clarified.

He said people can do anything with technology, thus urging teachers to go back to class as they engage because they wrote to the Minister of Education and Sports, and she gave feedback and assigned someone to arrange a meeting, and that’s the level they are at.
