Terego Woman MP calls for environmental protection

She also said that the efforts of practicing a forestation end up yielding nothing when the seedlings planted are burned down by those practicing bush burning.

Terego: Terego Woman Member of Parliament, Hon. Obigah Rose has called upon the people of Terego to desist from bush burning as a way of protecting the environment.

While addressing the congregation at Leju Boma Ground in Leju Town Council during the 38th anniversary of the NRM Liberation Day, Hon.  Obigah said rampant bush burning leaves the ground bear and exposes it to soil erosion.

She also said that the efforts of practicing a forestation end up yielding nothing when the seedlings planted are burned down by those practicing bush burning.

The politician has drawn up a program of sensitizing the community members, village by village, to change their minds so that the vice stops.

Saka Wilfred, the LC5 chairman for Terego district, tasked leaders with using the day for reconciliation and focusing on the development of the district.

He says some of the leaders within Terego are always feeding wrong information to the central government in their own selfish interests.

Saka echoed the recent issue where some leaders told the central government that he was the one failing government program in Terego.

He says they are giving false information because he has been fighting corruption in most of the offices in terms of service delivery.

Humphrey Otim Benson, the chief administration officer of Terego district, called for unity among the leaders so that the projects in Terego can be implemented with one voice.

He advised the Teregians to support the active leaders so that service delivery can be implemented in the district.

Terego East Member of Parliament, Obiga Mario Kania, who doubles as the state minister for urban development and presided over as the chief guest, called for unity in Terego and asked the community to support government programs.

The function was held under the theme “Building a country we all cherish” in line with the ruling NRM party’s Manifesto of 2021–26, “Secure the Future of All Ugandans.
