Arua: The Speaker of Parliament, Anita Annet Among, is expected in Arua on Sunday April 7, 2024 to grace the mega fundraising of the Golden Jubilee Block and the thanksgiving ceremony of the bishop for his seven years of service as the bishop of Madi and Westnile dioceses.
Anguyo Richard, the chairman of the organizing committee of the function, says the mega fundraising will take place at Arua Core PTC Play Ground, also known as Bishops Ground Mvaradri.
He says the main preacher will be the bishop of Nebi Diocese, Rt. Rev. Ponzi Ozelle.
Anguyo further says over eight preparatory meetings have been ongoing, and they expect over 2000 guests from all denominations.
The fundraising targets to collect over one billion Ugandan shillings to continue with the construction, which commenced in 2021.
The diocesan secretary, Nasser Godfrey, calls upon the members of the public and all Christians to come and support the bishop in the seven years of service he has so far rendered in the diocese.
The bishop of Madi and Westnile diocese, Right Rev. Charles Collins Andaku, says the major motive of the thanksgiving is to raise funds for the Golden Jubilee Block and also thank God for his seven years of service as the bishop of Madi and Westnile.
The bishop called upon the Christians to contribute willingly towards the project so that they could fulfill the diocesan plan of 2024–2028.
