Security guard shoots at bar bouncer in Masindi

The suspect remains in police custody as investigations continue.

Masindi: Police in Masindi District have arrested a security guard from SGA Security Company for allegedly shooting a bar bouncer during a dispute over payment.

The suspect, only identified as Njiku, is currently being held at Masindi Central Police Station, while the victim, Simon Wadiya, is receiving treatment at Masindi General Hospital.

According to Julius Allan Hakiza, the Albertine Regional Police Spokesperson, the incident occurred around 5:00 AM on Monday at a bar located along Ssebagala Street.

The suspect reportedly went to the bar to buy alcohol but declined to pay. When Wadiya, the bouncer, intervened, a scuffle broke out, during which Njiku allegedly drew his firearm and shot at him.

“A case of attempted murder has been registered at Masindi Central Police Station. We have recorded statements from eyewitnesses and recovered exhibits including live ammunition from the scene,” Hakiza confirmed.

The suspect remains in police custody as investigations continue.
