SAD! Woman murdered, body dumped on road

The two were believed to have been involved in a troubled intimate relationship, marred by repeated domestic disputes.

Kamuli: Police in Kamuli District have launched a manhunt for Ronald Kalevu, who is the prime suspect in the murder of 35-year-old Kanene Alice, whose body was discovered along a roadside in Bubogo Cell, Kasambira Town Council, on the morning of May 8, 2025.

According to preliminary investigations, the area chairperson received a report about the tragic death at around 7:00 AM and promptly alerted police authorities.

Together with officers, they visited the scene and found Kanene’s lifeless body, naked and bearing visible injuries, which investigators believe were caused by a blunt object.

ASP Michael Kasadha, the spokesperson for Busoga North Police, confirmed that Kanene had reportedly received threatening phone calls from Kalevu prior to her death.

The two were believed to have been involved in a troubled intimate relationship, marred by repeated domestic disputes.

ASP Kasadha said efforts are underway to track down Kalevu, who is currently on the run, and he urged the public to cooperate with authorities.

“Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Ronald Kalevu is urged to report to the nearest police station immediately,” Kasadha said.

Kanene’s body has been taken to Kamuli General Hospital Mortuary for a postmortem examination as investigations continue.

The police have reiterated their commitment to ensuring justice is served and to tackling rising cases of gender-based violence and domestic-related homicides in the region.
