SAD! Kagadi man kills wife in domestic brawl

Police have launched investigations into the incident and are holding Kahoroto in custody as inquiries continue

Kagadi: Police in Kagadi District have detained a 32-year-old man accused of killing his wife following a domestic dispute.

The suspect, identified as John Kahoroto, a resident of Kisungu A LC1 in Nyakarongo Sub-County, allegedly beat his wife to death after accusing her of infidelity.

The deceased, identified only as Musimenta, 28, was a market vendor at Kyaterekera Market. According to family members, she had traveled to the market on Tuesday to sell tomatoes and informed her husband that she would spend the night at her uncle’s home, returning the next day.

However, upon her return on Wednesday afternoon, Kahoroto allegedly confronted her, accusing her of having spent the night with other men. The confrontation reportedly escalated into a violent altercation that ended with Musimenta’s death.

Julius Asiimwe Kasaija, the LC1 chairman of Kisungu A, confirmed the incident and noted that the couple had a long history of domestic violence. He said the suspect had on multiple occasions accused his wife of returning home late and being unfaithful.

Kasaija condemned the act and urged community members to resolve family disagreements through lawful channels and seek help from relevant authorities instead of resorting to violence.

The body of the deceased was taken to Kagadi General Hospital for a postmortem examination and has since been handed over to her relatives for burial.

Police have launched investigations into the incident and are holding Kahoroto in custody as inquiries continue.
