Kagadi: Fear has gripped residents of Pachwa Town Council following a series of violent night-time attacks by unidentified armed men wielding pangas.

The assailants, reportedly moving in groups of three and using motorcycles, have been targeting residents, especially night travelers, robbing them of money, phones, and other valuables.

So far, four people have been injured in the attacks which have rocked Gayaza and Kiryambire Cells.

Among the victims are Ssali Sentongo of Kiryambire Cell, Gerald Geoffrey and Tusingwire from Nyabinanga Cell, and most recently, Kirungi Patrick, who was brutally attacked and injured on Wednesday night.

Kirungi recounted the terrifying ordeal, describing how the assailants ambushed and beat him while demanding cash and valuables.

Gabriel Kiiza, the LC1 Chairperson of Gayaza Cell, confirmed the incidents and expressed concern over the growing insecurity.

He said the attackers operate in the cover of night, targeting isolated individuals and travelers. “They leave victims frightened, injured, and without any support,” he noted, calling on the government to take swift action to restore safety in the area.

In response, Businge Justus, the LC3 Chairperson of Pachwa Town Council, advised residents to heighten their personal security and avoid unnecessary movements during night hours.

He assured the community that government authorities are actively working to find a lasting solution to the problem.
