UG Decides 2026

Musibikha endorsed as sole candidate for Manafwa Woman MP Seat

The endorsement follows widespread dissatisfaction with previous leadership and representation in the district.

Manafwa: In a major political development, strongholds of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) in Manafwa district, alongside key non-party leaders, have unanimously endorsed Hon. Annet Musibikha as the sole candidate for the Woman Member of Parliament seat in the upcoming 2026 elections.

The endorsement follows widespread dissatisfaction with previous leadership and representation in the district.

The endorsement ceremony, held at Busumbu Mission Center, drew over 500 participants, including NRM stalwarts and LC1, LC2, and LC3 leaders from various sub-counties and villages across the district.

Ambassador Walibwa Peke, former Mbale district chairman in the 1990s, was among those who warmly welcomed Hon. Musibikha. He pledged full support for her candidacy, stating, “We can’t continue trusting people with selfish mindsets. Hon. Annet Musibikha has our full support, and we believe she will bring the much-needed change to our district.”

Hon. Musibikha, visibly moved by the show of support, thanked the people of Manafwa for their trust and confidence.

“Our people have suffered greatly due to poor representation and leadership. With my vast national and international connections, I am committed to lobbying for investments in agriculture, health, and other critical sectors that will benefit our people,” she said.

Manafwa district, situated in Uganda’s Eastern Region, is home to over 250,000 residents. Known for its fertile soil and agricultural potential, the district has long struggled with underdeveloped infrastructure, inadequate healthcare services, and limited economic opportunities.

Effective leadership, many believe, is the key to unlocking Manafwa’s potential. Quoting Nelson Mandela, the article reflects that

“Leadership is about empowering others to become leaders.”

In this spirit, Hon. Musibikha’s candidacy brings renewed hope for meaningful change.

With her extensive experience and network of connections, she is uniquely positioned to champion the district’s development agenda focusing on healthcare, infrastructure, and agricultural growth. Her campaign promises have already begun to resonate with residents who are eager for progress and transparency.

As the 2026 elections approach, optimism is growing in Manafwa. In the words of Julius Welenga,

“Leadership is a matter of having people look at you and gain confidence in you.”

Hon. Annet Musibikha has clearly gained that confidence. Her unanimous endorsement stands as a powerful testament to her leadership potential and the hope she embodies for a better Manafwa.
