Minister Namuganza urges Namutumba to utilize Shs1 Billion road fund

“Let us all take part in preserving our infrastructure. The funds are here we now must put them to proper use,” he added.

Namutumba: The State Minister for Lands, Hon. Princess Persis Namuganza, has called on Namutumba District authorities to effectively utilize the Shs1 billion road fund allocated by the central government to improve road infrastructure across the district.

Speaking to thousands of residents gathered at her home in Ivukula village during the Easter holidays, Hon. Namuganza emphasized the need for urgent repair of the Mpande–Bugondo road, which has been in a state of disrepair for an extended period.

“This road has been neglected for too long. We must act now to improve accessibility and support development in our communities,” Namuganza said.

She directed the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) and the District Engineer to ensure the funds are put to immediate use. Despite earlier reports of delays in the release of the funds, Namuganza instructed Dr. Babita to carry out emergency maintenance on the road to ease transportation challenges.

The minister applauded the quick response from the district security team and local leaders who supported her intervention. She further called on her constituents in Bukono Constituency to remain united and continue backing the President in upcoming elections.

Deputy RDC Mr. Waiswa Paul addressed the gathering, noting that the delay in roadwork was caused by maintenance issues with the grader, which was under repair by the Ministry of Works and Transport.

He assured the community that now that the funds had been received, road rehabilitation efforts would soon commence.

Waiswa also urged sink truck drivers to operate responsibly, as heavy vehicles are known to cause significant damage to roads.

“Let us all take part in preserving our infrastructure. The funds are here we now must put them to proper use,” he added.

He also reminded residents that the role of a Member of Parliament is to lobby for resources and advocate for the needs of the constituency.

Former Deputy Inspector General of Government (IGG), George Bamugemereire, commended Hon. Namuganza’s dedication to development and transparency.

“If you find someone like Persis, who loves God and serves her people diligently, that’s a blessing,” he said. “I encourage all parents to instill discipline and good values in their children, as they are the future of our nation.”

Justice Catherine Bamugemereire, a Supreme Court judge and a respected voice from the Busoga sub-region, echoed these sentiments. She urged parents to prioritize education and spiritual guidance to raise responsible citizens.
