Kakumiro man arrested for cutting off colleague’s hand

He adds that Byamugisha has been arrested and will be charged with attempted murder, while the cut hand has been given to the relatives for further management.

Kakumiro: Police in Kakumiro district are holding Emmanuel Byamugisha, a resident of Rugoigo local council one in Kisaigi Parish, Kakindo Sub County, for cutting off the hand of Benjamin Bategana, a resident of the same area.

Julius Allan Hakiza, the Albertine Region Police Spokesperson, our reporter Tuesday afternoon that on December 31, 2023, in the morning, the two picked quarrels while in the garden, and at night, around 8:30 PM, Bategana went to Byamugisha to quarrel again.

Hakiza explained that this prompted Byamugisha to chase him with a panga and cut off the right hand of Bategana. Investigations are ongoing to determine the motive for the cutting.

He adds that Byamugisha has been arrested and will be charged with attempted murder, while the cut hand has been given to the relatives for further management.
