Kagadi woman arrested for dumping baby in pond
She is accused of dumping her 4-month-old baby boy into a pond.
Kagadi: In Kagadi district, a 40-year-old woman named Sylvia Katusabe has been arrested by the police.
She is accused of dumping her 4-month-old baby boy into a pond.
Upon getting the information, the authorities rushed to the scene to retrieve the infant’s body.
According to Jackson Tugume, the LC1 chairperson for Rwesabaija village, Sylvia Katusabe is believed to be mentally disturbed.
He explained that they got the information in the morning on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at around 7 a.m. ‘’When she woke at night on Tuesday, she dumped the baby in the pond and went back to sleep.’’
Tugume narrated that they get the information through a relative she stays with. ‘’The relative alerted us, and we had to intervene; unfortunately, we found out when the baby had already died.’’
Additionally, Ngomeranze Augustine, the LC3 chairperson for Kyakabadiima subcounty, has issued a cautionary message to women to avoid excessive alcohol consumption.
”Its very bad for women to drink alcohol, she might have dumped the baby in pond because of influence of alcohol,” he said.
By the time of publication, the police had yet to issue a statement regarding the matter.
