Hundreds Celebrate Minister Byamukama’s Unopposed Victory

Kakumiro: Hundreds of residents from Kakumiro District and across the Bunyoro Sub-region gathered at Kikwaya Playground in Kikwaya Village on Sunday to celebrate the unopposed election victory of the Minister of State for Works and Transport, Hon. Fred Byamukama, as Member of Parliament for Bugangaizi West.
The thanksgiving and victory celebration attracted several government officials, political leaders, and National Resistance Movement (NRM) supporters who congratulated the minister on securing another term without facing any challenger.
Addressing the jubilant crowd, Hon. Fred Byamukama expressed gratitude to the people of Bugangaizi West for the confidence they showed in him by allowing him to retain his parliamentary seat unopposed.
“I thank the people of Bugangaizi West for the overwhelming support and trust they have shown in me by allowing me to go through unopposed. I pledge to continue serving you diligently.”
Byamukama also extended appreciation to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for entrusting him with a ministerial appointment, saying he remains committed to delivering quality services to the people.
“I also thank President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for the trust he has placed in me through the ministerial appointment. I remain committed to improving service delivery and fighting corruption for the benefit of Kakumiro residents and the entire country.”
The Minister for Local Government, Hon. Balaam Barugahara, praised Byamukama for his commitment to improving livelihoods and promoting wealth creation initiatives.
He highlighted the government’s efforts to eradicate poverty through the Four-Acre Model, encouraging wananchi to embrace commercial agriculture as a pathway to household income improvement.
“We shall continue fighting corruption and the misuse of public funds. I will move from district to district to ensure that corrupt officials are arrested and held accountable.”
Barugahara also warned head teachers in government-aided Universal Primary Education (UPE) schools against illegally charging parents, saying the practice undermines government policy.
“Head teachers who continue soliciting money from parents in UPE schools should stop immediately. We shall not tolerate corruption in government-aided schools.”
The Chief Guest, Eng. Jonard Asiimwe, Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, thanked the people of Kakumiro for their continued support for President Museveni and the National Resistance Movement (NRM).
“We appreciate the people of Kakumiro for their continued support for President Museveni and the NRM. Your decision to elect Hon. Byamukama unopposed demonstrates confidence in the leadership and development agenda of the party.”
Meanwhile, Kagadi District Woman MP Hon. Margaret Naiziwa pledged to support young people through innovation and skills development initiatives aimed at tackling unemployment.
“We shall continue supporting the youth through innovation and empowerment programmes so that they can create jobs and improve their livelihoods.”
The celebration concluded with entertainment, cultural performances, and renewed calls from leaders for unity, accountability, and continued support for government development programmes across the Bunyoro Sub-region.
