Buliisa COVID-19 patients discharged, two new cases registered

All have been isolated to prevent further spread.

Buliisa: The Buliisa District Health Department has registered two new COVID-19 cases, bringing the district’s cumulative total to 12.

This update was announced by Robert Mugabe, the District Health Educator, during a community dialogue held in Butiaba Town Council and Butiaba Sub-county on Tuesday, June 10, 2025.

The dialogue, organized by the non-governmental organization KAWID in partnership with the Center for Budget and Tax Policy and Oxfam, aimed to present and validate monitoring reports on the health and education sectors in the two administrative units.

According to Mugabe, all 12 cases were recorded at the CCA oil camp. Of these, 10 patients were discharged on Sunday earlier this week after recovery.

‘’The two cases tested positive and are part of the 50 contacts that were isolated after registering 10 cases,’’ he added.

Mugabe noted that individuals from various nationalities and ethnic backgrounds namely Indians, Chinese, Baganda, and Portuguese were among those infected. All have been isolated to prevent further spread.

He also emphasized that the district health team continues to conduct daily screening of workers at the oil camp. Mugabe urged residents to disregard circulating rumors claiming that COVID-19 is no longer present in the area.
