Neighbours rushed to rescue the woman but found her already dead.
Mubende: A 42-year-old woman has died following a domestic altercation with her husband in Mubende District.
The incident occurred on Tuesday at around 4:00 PM in Budibaga East LC1, Budibaga Parish, Kalonga Sub-county.
The deceased has been identified as Evas Turyahikyao, a peasant, who reportedly got into a physical fight with her husband, Robert Karahakye, a 38-year-old butcher.
According to the Wamala Region Police spokesperson, Lameck Kigozi, neighbours revealed that the couple had a history of frequent conflicts, often over minor issues.
Kigozi asserted that it is alleged that during the fight, the husband assaulted his wife, leaving her unconscious. Upon realizing her condition had worsened, he attempted to flee the scene.
Neighbours rushed to rescue the woman but found her already dead.
The suspect was later chased by angry residents who attempted to lynch him, but local leaders intervened and handed him over to Kalonga Police Station.
Kigozi said they have since charged the suspect with murder, and statements from witnesses have been recorded. A homicide team from Mubende visited the scene, and a Scene of Crime Officer documented the evidence.
The body of the deceased was taken to Mubende Hospital for a postmortem examination.
He urged couples to practice tolerance and peaceful conflict resolution adding that cases of serious disagreements, partners should seek time apart or support from relatives to avoid violence.
