The suspects have been identified as Monday Ezra, 38; Arinaitwe Thomas, 40; and Bagyenyi Gerald, 35, all residents of Birara village, Kagunga Parish, Bukimbiri sub-county.

The deceased, identified as Sunday Calist, 54,, was reportedly lured from his home by the above suspects.

According to Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region police spokesperson, the deceased left his home to accompany the suspects to aid the purported patient.

Maate revealed that the incident was reported to the Bukimbiri Police Post on February 17, 2024, at around 9:00 a.m. Upon investigation, it was revealed that the victim had suffered fatal head injuries, leading to his demise.

A postmortem examination was conducted at the crime scene, and the body was subsequently released to the relatives for burial.

The suspects, identified and apprehended, are currently in police custody as inquiries continue to ascertain the motive behind the murder.

The case has been registered at the Kisoro district police station under the reference number CRB 140/2024.
