Shines Children’s Foundation Donates Medical Supplies to Masindi Health Department

He assured residents that the donated supplies will be properly utilized and encouraged other development partners to follow SCF’s example.

Masindi: In a bid to strengthen healthcare delivery in Masindi District, Shines Children’s Foundation (SCF), a Masindi-based non-governmental organization, has donated a consignment of medical supplies to the Masindi District Health Department for distribution to various health facilities across the district.

The donation was officially handed over on Thursday at SCF’s premises in Kigulya Division, Masindi Municipality, by Denis Kiirya, the SCF Executive Director, to Samson Natsambwa, the Deputy Chief Administrative Officer (DCAO), and Dr. Felix Twinomugisha, the District Health Officer (DHO).

The medical supplies include; anti-malarial drugs, antihistamines, antibacterial medications, malaria and typhoid test strips, anti-diarrheal drugs, painkillers, syrups, antifungal and antihypertensive drugs, syringes and other essential items.

Kiirya explained that the donation was made from surplus supplies left over after SCF’s annual medical camp, which is conducted every October.

“We know that sometimes government supply chains face challenges, and patients visit health centers only to find no medicine. That’s why we conduct these camps and provide supplies to supplement government efforts,” Kiirya said.

He thanked the Masindi District medical department for consistently supporting SCF’s initiatives by providing healthcare professionals for the camps.

Kiirya also announced that SCF, which runs a fully-fledged primary school for vulnerable children, plans to construct a Health Centre IV in Kigulya Division to fill a critical gap in access to medical services.

“Kigulya Division has no health facility at all. People here rely entirely on Village Health Teams (VHTs). We’ve already secured land and are committed to building a health center that will serve the community,” he added.

Samson Natsambwa, the Deputy CAO, applauded SCF for stepping in to bridge gaps in healthcare delivery, emphasizing the importance of public-private partnerships.

“At times, our health facilities experience stock-outs. Your support helps us continue serving the people. It’s a great contribution to improving lives,” Natsambwa said.

Dr. Felix Twinomugisha, the DHO, assured residents that the donated supplies will be properly utilized and encouraged other development partners to follow SCF’s example.
