SAD! One dead, several injured in Pakwach road accident
Police are urging motorists to prioritize vehicle maintenance and exercise extreme caution, especially on hilly terrain like Got-Nam Hills.

Pakwach: Tragedy struck when a fatal road accident occurred at approximately 4:30 PM on the Parombo–Panyimur Road, near Got-Nam Hills in Kimoro Village, claiming one life and leaving several others injured.
The crash which occured Sunday evening , recorded under Traffic Accident Report (TAR) 18/2025, involved a silver Toyota Noah (registration number UAJ 208V) driven by Acia Florence, 61, a resident of Ediofe in Arua City.
The vehicle was reportedly traveling from Arua to Panyimur via Nebbi and Parombo with seven passengers on board.
According to preliminary police findings, the vehicle experienced brake failure while descending the steep Got-Nam Hills. The driver lost control, causing the vehicle to veer off the road and roll multiple times down the slope.
Motindane Monica Phillip Orwinya, a 61-year-old Congolese national living in Angumu Cell, Panyimur Town Council, died instantly at the scene.
In a statement, West Nile Regional Police Spokesperson SP Collins Asea confirmed the fatality and identified five seriously injured victims as Acia Florence (driver), Maneno Monica, 51, from Maracha Town Council, Ocaru Moreen, 32, from Ambukoa Village, Maracha District, Lucky Raymond, 35, from Pajulu, Arua District and Orwinya Spencer, 2, grandson of the deceased.
The victims were rushed to Panyimur Health Centre III before being referred to Arua Regional Referral Hospital for further medical attention.
Police inspections at the crash site confirmed brake failure as the primary cause of the accident. However, authorities have launched further investigations to assess whether other factors may have contributed.
The deceased’s body was transported to Nebbi Hospital for a post-mortem examination, following the family’s request. The vehicle wreckage remains at the scene, awaiting recovery by a breakdown service.
