SAD! Missing 5-year-old child found murdered

Agago: A heartbreaking tragedy has struck Toolit Village in Kiteny Parish, Ajali Sub-county, Agago District, after a five-year-old girl, Lakica Recho, was discovered brutally murdered following her disappearance on April 25, 2025.
Lakica, a nursery learner at St. Joseph Nursery and Primary School, reportedly left home for school on foot that Friday morning, accompanied by other children from the neighborhood.
According to Aswa East Regional Police spokesperson IP Oloya Joe, she went missing around noon, prompting her peers to begin searching for her.
When she failed to return home, her disappearance was reported by a concerned resident, Orach Wilfred, at Agago Central Police Station.
A community-wide search ensued over the weekend, culminating in the tragic discovery of Lakica’s lifeless body on the evening of Monday, April 28. Her body was found in a bush in Lacankweri Village by four youths who had gone hunting wild birds.
Police have opened a case of suspected murder under reference number AGAGO CRB 177/2025. A homicide team has since visited the scene, taken statements from the deceased’s family, and transported the body to Kalongo Hospital Mortuary for a post-mortem examination.
The motive and identity of the assailants remain unknown, and investigations are ongoing.
Authorities are urging anyone with information that could aid in the investigation to come forward.
