Police seize firearm in Moyo following armed robbery

Moyo: The Uganda Police Force’s Flying Squad Unit has successfully neutralized a serious security threat in Moyo District, following a deadly armed robbery and homicide in neighboring Amuru District.
The incident involved the fatal shooting of a mobile money operator, during which the assailants made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.
According to SP Collins Asea, spokesperson for the West Nile Regional Police, the breakthrough came after suspects were arrested and interrogated, leading to crucial confessions.
“Following a prompt investigation, the Flying Squad conducted extensive inquiries that led to the arrest of key suspects involved in the incident,” Asea said in a statement.
“During interrogation, the suspects identified their associates believed to be hiding in Moyo District, and provided information on the location of the firearm and ammunition used during the attack.”
Based on this intelligence, the Moyo District Police Commander (DPC), working alongside Flying Squad operatives, launched a targeted operation that resulted in the arrest of additional suspects.

All apprehended suspects and recovered items have since been transferred to Amuru District for further investigation and judicial proceedings.
