PLU eats big as President Museveni shakes cabinet

President appointed his son, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the Chief of Defense Forces.

Kampala: On Thursday evening, President Museveni made changes in his cabinet.

President Museveni appointed Dr. Balaam Barugahara, the Vice Chairman Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) for Western Uganda, as the minister for Youth and Children Affairs,

Lilian Aber, the Kitgum Woman Member of Parliament also doubling as the PLU Vice Chairman Northern Uganda was appointed as the State Minister for Relief, Disaster Preparedness, and Refugees.

Meanwhile, Phiona Nyamutooro National Youth Member of Parliament was appointed State Minister for Minerals, while the President appointed his son, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the Chairman PLU as the Chief of Defense Forces.

The appointment of Balaam, Aber, and Nyamutooro is seen as an endorsement of the MK project, with the trio ardent supporters of the First Son and the new Chief of Defense Forces, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba.

Kenneth Omona has also been made a minister, moving him from his role as private secretary to that of president.

Asio Omaswa is the new principal private secretary to the president. Irene Birungyi, the deputy presidential private secretary, has been transferred to the Ministry of Public Service.
