Missing Masindi woman found dead

The body was discovered at around 10 a.m.

Masindi: Police in Masindi District are investigating the circumstances surrounding the discovery of a decomposing body of Wiclyn Katugume, a 20-year-old woman who went missing on Eid Al-Fitr.

Katugume’s disappearance led to a search that turned up empty for several days.

However, on Sunday, her lifeless body was found dumped about 15 meters from the tarmac road connecting Masindi to Kampala, in Nyakatooke Cell, Kigulya Ward, Kigulya Division in Masindi Municipality.

The body was discovered at around 10 a.m.

Julius Allan Hakiza, the Albertine Regional Police Spokesperson, confirmed the discovery and stated that investigations are ongoing.

Police have one suspect, Aziz Sharif, in custody to assist in the investigations. It is believed that Katugume received a phone call from Sharif before leaving her home.
