Bukedea: Police have arrested a 28-year-old man for allegedly defiling a three-year-old child in Suula village, Kocheka Sub County, Bukedea district.

David Odele, aka Opio, is currently detained at Bukedea Central Police Station for allegedly raping the minor on the afternoon of Sunday, February 11, 2024.

His arrest came after the child complained to her mother about the pain in her private parts.

Ms. Jane Acheng, the victim’s mother, told ugreports.co.ug that when she checked on the child’s private parts, she found blood and damage in her body parts.

“I was my child at home, but after eating lunch, the kid went to play, but I was shocked to hear my child telling me that her private part was hurting while mentioning that Opio was sleeping on top of her,”  said Ms. Acheng.

Mr. Simon Okiror, Suula local council chairperson, said the mother of the child reported the matter to his office, and this led to Odele’s arrest.

“I received the complaint from Ms. Acheng; we took the matter to the police, and Odele was arrested,”  said Mr. Okiror.

Richard Asiimwe, the Bukedea District Police Commander (DPC), confirmed Odele’s arrest, saying his file is pending to be sanctioned by state Antony before his appearance in court.

He said police carried out the medical examination of the child, and the medical report shows penetrations in her private parts.

“We have Odele in our cells, and the medical report shows that the child was penetrated,”  said DPC Asiimwe.
