Masindi man stabbed after failing to pay sex worker
"We found him bleeding and we rushed him to the hospital for treatment," an eyewitness said.
Masindi: A man believed to be in his late 30s is receiving treatment at Masindi General Hospital after he was allegedly stabbed during a dispute over payment with a sex worker in Masindi Town.
The incident occurred on Monday evening along Ssebagala Street.
According to eyewitnesses, the victim, whose identity had not been established by press time, allegedly failed to pay the woman after a sexual encounter, resulting in an argument that escalated into violence. The woman reportedly stabbed him with a knife.
Scovia Atuhura, commonly known as Mama Ghetto, told this news portal that the victim had allegedly been involved in similar disputes in the past, claiming he had a habit of failing to pay sex workers after receiving their services.
Eyewitness Isaac Namumpa said residents quickly intervened after the incident. “We found him bleeding and we rushed him to the hospital for treatment,” Namumpa said, adding that the dispute reportedly stemmed from the victim’s failure to pay the woman.
Following the incident, the woman, identified only as Phiona, reportedly accompanied the victim to Masindi General Hospital, paid his medical bills and apologized for her actions. The victim also reportedly forgave her.
Solomon Mugisa, the Albertine North Regional Community Liaison Officer and Acting Regional Police Spokesperson, confirmed the incident and said the victim is receiving treatment at Masindi General Hospital.
“We condemn the use of violence in resolving disputes and urge members of the public to settle misunderstandings peacefully and seek lawful means of resolving conflicts,” Mugisa said.
Police said investigations into the incident are ongoing.
