Man cuts off mother’s finger over family dispute

Kyegegwa: Police in Kyegegwa District are holding a 35-year-old man, Nazhuna Edgar, for allegedly severing one of his mother’s fingers in a shocking act of domestic violence.
The incident occurred on Sunday at around 3:30 PM in Ngangi Village, Rwentuha Sub County. Edgar is currently detained at Kazinga Police Post in Kazinga Town Council.
The victim, Judith Kyomuhendo, told this publication that her son entered the house shortly after constructing a kitchen, picked up a panga (machete), and used it to chop off one of her left fingers. She raised an alarm and was rescued by concerned neighbors.
Kyomuhendo revealed that Edgar had previously struggled with drug addiction, although he had shown signs of recovery in recent years.

In a remorseful interview, Edgar admitted to the attack and attributed his actions to ongoing family tensions.
He pleaded for forgiveness from his mother, saying he wishes to be released to assist in her medical treatment and relocate to avoid further conflict.
Efforts to obtain an official police statement were unsuccessful, as the officer on duty was not authorized to speak to the press.
