Kampala: The photo of the Link Bus driver resting in his chair is circulating on social media platforms, stressing that he died shortly after parking along the roadside.

Tom Alinde, the Link Bus Services Public Relations Manager, has identified the driver as Nelson Olungu, who was driving the bus registration number UBE 995M.

He explains that on Wednesday, the above driver left Kampala en route to Kasese district, and he started feeling unwell when he reached Mubende district.

Alinde clarified that this prompted him to contact their headquarters in Fort Portal City to send another driver since he wasn’t feeling well.

‘’The situation worsened when he was approaching Kyegegwa town; he parked the bus along the roadside, and another driver identified as Samuel Kyaligonza continued with the journey.’’

The public relations officer also said that after parking the bus, Olungu was rushed to the hospital and was diagnosed with malaria, adding that he is steadily recovering.

Alinde therefore dismissed the allegations that their driver died en route to Kasese, stressing that the baseless allegations are aimed at tarnishing the company’s image.

”It’s not true that our driver died en route to Kasese; it’s not true, and we can’t tell the ill intentions of the allegations.’’
