Kinyara Sugar Ltd receives rotary club award for community contribution

Kinyara Sugar Ltd gives agricultural extension services to farmers under the farmer development and support program.

 Masindi: Kinyara Sugar Ltd has been honored by the Rotary Club of Masindi for its outstanding contribution to community development, receiving a special award in recognition of its generous support towards the recently concluded Rotary Charity Run.

The Charity Run, organized in partnership with Masindi District and held on Thursday May 1, 2025 in Masindi town, aimed to raise funds for the installation of a piped water system at Masindi Hospital.

The event was flagged off by Masindi Deputy Resident District Commissioner, Mr. Sanon Dhaala.

The award was officially received by Kinyara Sugar Ltd staff led by Public Relations Officer, Mr. Francis Mugerwa. “We appreciate this award in recognition of the support we extend to the community,” said Mr. Mugerwa.

“Our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs support health, education, infrastructure, environmental conservation, and agriculture. We are pleased that these interventions are making a positive impact in the lives of people across the district.”

Rotary Club of Masindi President Ms. Peridha Agaba lauded Kinyara’s longstanding support, stating, “The company generously and consistently supports all charity events we organize from the annual cancer runs to initiatives like the hospital water project. We are so grateful for their unwavering partnership.”

Kinyara Sugar Ltd operates an extensive CSR portfolio that has transformed communities in the region. The company conserves over 2,000 hectares of forests and wetlands, maintains more than 2,000 kilometers of access roads, and supports the construction of worship centers and water sources.

The company’s investments in health and education include a well-equipped health facility serving both staff and the surrounding community, medical outreach programs, a nursery and primary school, and a government-aided secondary school that ranks among the best in Uganda.

Kinyara also offers subsidized technical education at the Kinyara Training Centre, accredited by City & Guilds (UK).

Through the Kinyara Assisted Primary Schools Association (KAPSA), the company supports public schools in sugarcane-growing areas with salary top-ups, school meals, water, scholastic materials, and maintenance.

Additionally, Kinyara supports various sports and cultural programs, including the annual Bunyoro-Kitara Kingdom cultural celebrations, and provides agricultural extension services under its farmer development program.
