UG Decides 2026

Kabindi nominated for Buruli County MP Seat

“I want to ensure that Buruli benefits from balanced national budget appropriations,” Kabindi emphasized.

Kampala: Former NRM flag bearer Stephen Kabindi has officially been nominated to contest for the Buruli County Member of Parliament seat in the forthcoming National Resistance Movement (NRM) primaries.

Kabindi was nominated on Thursday by NRM Electoral Commission Chairperson, Dr. Tanga Odoi, who declared: “I hereby nominate Stephen Kabindi to contest for Buruli Constituency Member of Parliament in Masindi District.”

Kabindi, a former Chief News Editor at New Vision’s Kabalega FM Hoima, expressed confidence in reclaiming the party flag and winning in the 2026 general elections.

“I’m determined to retain the NRM flag and represent the people of Buruli in the 12th Parliament,” he stated.

Kabindi’s Priorities

If elected, Kabindi has pledged to focus on lobbying for a Health Centre IV in Buruli, which currently lacks such a facility, improving service delivery through active parliamentary representation and advocating for fair budget allocations to rehabilitate roads and combat rampant land grabbing in the constituency.

“I want to ensure that Buruli benefits from balanced national budget appropriations,” Kabindi emphasized.

A comeback attempt

In the 2021 general elections, Kabindi lost to Ronald Akuguzibwe Aled, an independent candidate, who secured 8,848 votes.

Kabindi came in third with 7,430 votes, behind Bintu Jalia Lukumu (Independent), who garnered 8,316 votes. Banage Frederick Bitamale of FDC trailed with 362 votes.

As Uganda heads toward the 2026 elections, the NRM Electoral Commission continues to receive nominations at its headquarters on Plot 13, Kyadondo Road, Kampala.

Moses Ogwang, the NRM registrar for Masindi District, confirmed that the party is finalizing the list of aspirants for parliamentary and other elective positions in the district.
