Egyptian national who went missing in eastern Uganda discovered dead

He said the inquiry and consequent prosecution of the matter shall proceed as under the law.

Soroti: Police in Soroti West Division in Soroti City have discovered the body of an Egyptian that went missing.

The deceased were identified as Ahmed Zinhom Ibrahim Selim, 32, an Egyptian national who was resident in Campswahili Cell A, Campswahili ward within Soroti City West Division.

Oscar Gerigory Ageca, the East Kyoga Regional Police Spokesperson, confirmed the incident on Saturday during the press briefing, saying the deceased body was found at Awoja swamp, within Soroti.

“Since the body of the deceased has been found, the charge against the suspects will be changed to match the nature of the offense of murder under CRB 48/2024 of Soroti West division policing jurisdiction,” said Ageca.

However, Ageca clarified that so far, police have arrested five people of interest in the matter, including one Ugandan and four Egyptian nationals.

He said the inquiry and consequent prosecution of the matter shall proceed as under the law.
