Arua: A serious road traffic accident occurred around 2:00 p.m. Saturday along the Arua-Nebbi Road in Kuluva, Arua District, involving two heavy-duty vehicles.
The crash involved a yellow Scania semi-truck (registration UBD 852W / UBD 833X) and a “Drone” vehicle, both reportedly heading from Nebbi toward Arua. The identities of the drivers have not yet been confirmed.
According to SP Collins Asea, the West Nile Regional Police Spokesperson, preliminary investigations suggest that the trailer detached from the Scania’s tractor unit and veered backward, colliding with the following “Drone” vehicle.
The force of the collision left the “Drone” vehicle’s driver trapped underneath the trailer. Emergency response teams remain at the scene working to free the driver as rescue operations continue.
Traffic police have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the trailer’s detachment, and authorities are urging all road users to remain vigilant and follow traffic safety regulations.
