Bunyoro-Kitara Diocese gets new Bishop
His consecration and enthronement as the 6th Bishop are scheduled for August 11, 2024, at St. Peter’s Cathedral in Hoima.
Kampala: Rev. Canon Jacob Ateirweho has been elected as the 6th Bishop of the Diocese of Bunyoro Kitara by the House of Bishops of the Church of Uganda.
The election took place on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, during the House of Bishops’ session at the Daniel Uganda Missional Centre in Lwenza.
His consecration and enthronement as the 6th Bishop are scheduled for August 11, 2024, at St. Peter’s Cathedral in Hoima.
Rev. Canon Jacob Ateirweho was born on August 24, 1968, at Hoima Hospital. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior on April 5, 1991.
He was ordained as a deacon on February 5, 2006, and as a priest on July 23, 2006.
Ateirweho is married to Irene Kobusinge, and they have been blessed with five biological children.
Rev Canon Jacob Ateirweho holds a bachelor’s degree in divinity from Uganda Christian University.
He currently serves as the vicar of All Saints Church, Hoima Town Parish, in the Diocese of Bunyoro Kitara.
His appointment follows the retirement of the former bishop, Samuel Kahuma, who is stepping down in August of the same year.
