Buliisa: School head teacher, three others arrested over missing government mosquito nets

Buliisa: Police in Buliisa district have this morning arrested the head teacher, his deputy, a senior woman teacher, and an askari of Nyamasonga Primary School over missing government mosquito nets.

The quadruple were arrested by the police at the school premises and recorded statements at Biiso Police Station over missing government mosquito nets, which are supposed to be distributed to the community.

The reliable sources told this publication that the district health department used one of the school rooms to store the 44 bags of nets, but one of them went missing from the store.

Sources further told this publication that the quadruple whose details have been concealed not to jeopardize investigations recorded statements at Biiso Police Station, pending investugations.

‘’The school head teacher, deputy head teacher, senior woman teacher, some teachers, and an askari have recorded statements at Biiso Police Station over the missing bale of mosquito net,’’ it disclosed.

Mr. Denis Oyewa, the LC3 Chairperson for Biiso Sub County, confirmed the incident, disclosing that the suspects were forced to record statements after finding that there was one bag of mosquito nets missing from the head teacher`s office, where they were kept waiting to be distributed.

The chairperson condemned the act, saying they are responsible for the safety of the nets while still at school.

Betty Katusabe, the health assistant in Biiso Sub County, notes that they delivered 44 bundles of mosquito nets and kept them in the head teacher’s office since the school had an askari.
