Suspected Karamojong cattle rustlers attack man in Kitgum

Local leaders have called for enhanced measures to address the threat and safeguard communities.

Kitgum:  A 48-year-old resident of Mulembe Village in Lolwar Parish, Orom Subcounty, Ocan Robert, sustained injuries in an attack allegedly carried out by Karamojong cattle rustlers.

The incident occurred when Ocan was ambushed at his home by three armed individuals who shot him in the fingers with a bow and arrow.

According to Hon. Toodera Johnson Acellam, the LCIII Chairperson of Orom Subcounty, Ocan managed to escape and sought refuge at a nearby military detachment.

In addition to the attack on Ocan, the assailants reportedly stole two goats from a neighboring household.

Ocan received initial treatment at Orom Health Center III and was later transferred to Namokora Health Center IV for advanced medical care. His condition is reported to be improving.

The attack underscores the persistent security challenges posed by cattle rustlers in the region, affecting both lives and property.
