Palabek Kal Health Center IV Officially Commissioned

The UNFPA, with funding from the Government of Japan, invested over USD 100,000 to equip the operating theater of this new health facility.

Lamwo: Palabek Kal Health Center IV in Lamwo district has been officially commissioned by Hon. Onek Hillary Obaloker, the Minister of Relief, Disaster Preparedness, and Refugees.

The health facility, located in Palabek County, is now equipped to conduct surgical operations in its new operating theater.

Minister Onek praised the upgrade and the clearance by the Ministry of Health, stating that efforts will continue to attain district hospital status for the center.

He noted existing gaps in staffing and pledged to follow up with the Ministry to ensure the recruitment of more human resources to enhance service delivery.

Hon. Acora Nancy Odonga, the Lamwo District Woman MP, also acknowledged that the upgrade will reduce health referral cases from Lamwo District, which is currently hosting a significant number of refugees, thereby improving health services in the area.

The commissioning ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including Deputy Ambassador of Japan, Tomotaka Yoshimura; UNFPA Representative, Juliana Lunguzi; Lamwo District CAO, Obong Thompson; Resident District Commissioner, Mr. Komakech William; and Vice Chairperson, Odongmadiki David, among others.
