Namisindwa District Council Approves New Members of Service Commission

Namisindwa: Namisindwa District Council has approved new members of the District Service Commission following a hotly contested council meeting held on Tuesday at the district headquarters.
The Vice Chairman, Peter Masayi, presented the names of Dr. Dominic Waburoko as Chairperson, and Micah Moses Tsemwire and Robert William Situma as members. The nominees are set to fill vacancies created by the resignation of former chairperson Grace Namukhura, who joined active politics, and the expiry of the terms of two other members.
Masayi said the Ministry had directed all local governments to ensure that their commissions are fully constituted by 30 August, adding that it was the council’s mandate to fill the vacant positions.
The nominees were unanimously endorsed by the council, subject to approval by the Public Service Commission.
District Chairman Emma Bwayo said the nominated members were people of integrity and expressed confidence that they would serve the district effectively.
He warned brokers, including fellow leaders, against interfering with the work of the commission or acting as middlemen. He said such conduct would not be tolerated and that those involved could face criminal charges.
The chairman added that the district leadership is committed to prioritising career development and strengthening systems to ensure effective and transparent service delivery.
In a related development, the council also approved Gertrude Annet Nakamya and Edith Watala as members of the District Land Board. They will replace two former members whose tenure on the board has ended.
