MP Kugonza elected chairperson Bunyoro parliamentary caucus unopposed
He stressed the need to streamline the operations of local governments to further improve service delivery.
Kampala: The Bunyoro Parliamentary Caucus has elected its leadership for the 2026–2031 term following a meeting convened over yesterday afternoon at the Office of the Prime Minister.
Buyanja East County MP Dr Emely Kugonza from Kibaale District has been elected Chairperson deputized by Norah Bigirwa Nyendwoha the Buliisa district Woman MP.
Kasule Ismail from Hoima city West has been elected Publicity Secretary, Naziwa Margret the Kagadi district woman MP as Treasurer, Rogers Byamukama from Masindi Municipality as General Secretary and Pius Wakabi from Bugahya county as the Chief Whip whereas Flora Natumanya the Kikuube district woman MP was elected Welfare Secretary.
The newly elected leadership is expected to steer the affairs of the caucus and advance the development priorities of the Bunyoro sub-region during the 2026–2031 parliamentary term.
Robinah Nabbanja, the Prime Minister of Uganda chaired the meeting and called on MPs to work as a team to promote service delivery to the voters, asking the MPs to focus on the Government priorities such as mobilizing households to create wealth.
Balaam Barugahara, the Minister designate for local Government while talking to the MPs stressed the need to streamline the operations of local governments to further improve service delivery.
Eng. Jonard Asiimwe, the minister designate for Science Technology and Innovations has assured Ugandans that he will work with all ministries to ensure the economy is vital.
In his remarks, MP Dr. Emily Kugonza pledges to work with all members of parliament from Bunyoro for socio-economic transformation.
