Three arrested over attempted murder in Adjumani clan land clash
The three suspects remain in custody at Adjumani CPS as investigations continue.
Adjumani: Police in the North West Nile Region have arrested three women in connection with the attempted murder of two people during a violent clash over disputed land in Adjumani District.
The suspects, Mandera Grace, Mazira Kevin, and Arabaku Gloria, were apprehended on Saturday, 2026, while allegedly attempting to flee the area.
According North West Nile Regional Police SP Collins Asea, the incident occurred at around 7:00 a.m. in Amelo Village, Parichi Parish, Pakele Sub-county, when members of the Panyiri and Parkwanya clans clashed over land.
He said the victims, Issa Rhay Lodo, 64, and Clara Asienzo, 45, both residents of Manyarala Village, Parichi Ward, Pakele Town Council, sustained serious cuts and were dumped in the bush.
Police Field Force Units (FFU) and land desk officers rushed to the scene after receiving a report at approximately 8:00 a.m. They rescued the two critically injured victims and rushed them to Adjumani General Hospital for treatment.
During the operation, the three women were detained at Adjumani Central Police Station (CPS) on suspicion of participating in the attack.
A case of Attempted Murder has been registered as Adj CRB 245/2026. Scene of Crime Officers processed the area, and statements from witnesses have been recorded.

SP Asea Collins, North West Nile Region, confirmed that police remain committed to maintaining peace and ensuring justice for all parties involved in the violent incident.
The 2025 Uganda Police Annual Crime Report, released on March 30, 2026, showed that land-related crimes, including conflicts and fraud, increased by 67% compared to 2024.
Northern Uganda accounted for 33% of cases, while Central Uganda recorded 25%. The most prevalent issues were disputed land boundaries (46%), family land wrangles (30%), and land grabbing (22%).
