Authorities are currently pursuing leads to identify and apprehend the suspects.

Adjumani: A wave of shock and anger has swept through Uderu Village in Pacara Sub-County, Adjumani District, following the gruesome murder of a 22-year-old boda boda rider, Anyovi Stephen, also known as “Igo.”

The young rider was found dead on June 29, 2025, under chilling circumstances. According to Adjumani Police, the incident was reported at 10:40 a.m. and is registered under CRB No. 450/2025. Authorities believe the crime occurred during the night.

Police reports indicate that Stephen, a member of the Madi community and a rider affiliated with Adjumani Club, was hired by unidentified passengers to transport them to an undisclosed location. However, en route, the passengers allegedly turned violent.

According to SP Collins Asea, the North and West Nile Regional Police Spokesperson, the attackers “bound his hands behind his back, tied his legs, and fatally strangled him with a rope before dumping his body in a bush near Minia Stream in Rassia East Village.”

Scene of Crime Officers (SOCOs) and detectives from Adjumani Central Police Station promptly responded to the scene, documented evidence, and launched an active investigation.

Stephen’s body was taken to Adjumani General Hospital for a postmortem examination.

Authorities are currently pursuing leads to identify and apprehend the suspects. SP Asea has appealed to the public to come forward with any information that could aid in the investigation, urging residents to contact the nearest police station.

The brutal killing has left the Adjumani community deeply shaken, with calls for justice and improved security measures for local boda boda riders.
