Masindi: The driver and his turn man have been arrested after their truck rammed into Uganda‘s oldest hotel.

Masindi Hotel was established in 1923 by the East Africa Railway and Harbors.

The yet-to-be identified driver and the turner were traveling in the truck registration number SSD 569E. The truck crashed into the Hemingway Bar and left property worth millions destroyed.

According to one of the hotel managers who preferred anonymity, the driver and his turn man claimed that the steering wheel jammed and the brakes failed to operate.

‘’In the process of avoiding crashing four vehicles that were illegally parking alongside the road in front of them, they rammed into our building,’’ he explained.

The Albertine Region Police Spokesperson, Julius Allan Hakiza, confirmed the incident and said the duo have been arrested and are detained at Masindi Central Police Station.

‘’They were arrested, and they are currently detained at Masindi Central Police Station pending investigations,’’ he confirmed.
