SAD! Kagadi businessman dies at funeral
The back-to-back tragedies have left residents of Kagadi in deep mourning as they come to terms with the loss of two community members in such quick succession.

Kagadi: Grief and disbelief have engulfed Mambugu Ward in Kagadi Town Council following the sudden and unexpected death of local businessman Mako Kyaterekera during a funeral.
Mako, a well-known resident of Mabale Town Council in Kagadi District, passed away in the early hours of Friday while attending the funeral of Christine Nsimiire at the home of the late Archdeacon Kisitu. His sudden demise has shocked the community and left his family devastated.
“His death has left us in a state of disbelief because he was healthy and even attending the funeral,” said Omuhereza Kabezire, a family member.
Kabezire further revealed that Mako had recently been involved in a motorcycle accident while riding a tricycle (locally known as a Tukutuku). Since then, he had complained of general body weakness, a condition the family now suspects may have contributed to his untimely death.
Authorities were alerted after Mako failed to wake up in the morning. According to Mambugu Ward Councillor Benezeri Akonyera, it was Mako’s sister who discovered him unresponsive and confirmed his death.
Kagadi Central Police and Mabale Police have been notified, and the body has been transported to Kagadi Hospital Mortuary for a post-mortem examination. The family is preparing for his burial, which will take place at his ancestral home in Mabale.
Paul Tumusiime, head of laity at Mambugu Church of Uganda, expressed his sorrow over the incident, saying he had spoken to Mako just hours before his passing. “It’s a profound shock to the entire community,” he said.
While the funeral for Christine Nsimiire will proceed as planned, the church has pledged to also attend and support the arrangements for Mako’s burial.
