Rogers Amanyire wins Masindi municipality mayoral elections
He called upon his opponents to forget the differences that came up during the elections and join him for the good of Masindi municipality.

Masindi: Rogers Amanyire has been declared winner of the Masindi municipality mayoral race in the 2026 elections.
Amanyire, who contested on the NRM party ticket, was declared winner by the Masindi district returning officer, Gastervus Kakaire at 3am on Wednesday after obtaining 10062 (Ten thousand sixty-two) votes in Tuesday’s elections against 2383 votes that were garnered by FDC’s Isaac Bongomin, 2383 obtained by an independent candidate and incumbent, Ronald Businge Kyomuhendo.
Asina Nakalema came fourth with 693 votes while Milly Mateeba came fifth with 212 votes.
Speaking after being declared winner, Amanyire thanked the people of Masindi municipality for the overwhelming support they have showed him, pleading to reward them by fulfilling his campaign pledges when he assumes office.

Kakaire also declared the new councilors to Masindi municipality and these included Godfrey Musindi who is the directly elected councilor for Civic center war, Robert Akugizibwe, the directly elected councilor for western ward, Tumukwasibwe Benjamin, directly elected councilor for Kisiita ward, Godfrey Kugonza, the directly elected councilor for Kikwanana ward, Richard Kamanyire, directly elected councilor for Kibbwona ward, Abdul Aziz Katuku, directly elected councilor for southern ward and Venehas Abigaba, the directly elected councilor for Kiryanga ward.
The returning officer also declared Bony Kiirya as the women councilor for Kikwana ward, Betty Kyomuhendo the woman councilor for western ward, Jolly Basiima, woman councilor for Civic center ward, Fatuma Nyangoma , woman councilor for Bigando ward, Winfred Atugonza, the female councilor for Kihuba ward, Joslyn Balikurungi, the female councilor for Kiryanga ward among others.
Kakaire commended the candidates for running clean campaigns that has enabled the district to have peaceful elections.
