Relief as Kikuube Road which spent 20 years without rehabilitation nears completion
The 5-kilometer road had gone 20 years without being rehabilitated
Kikuube: Residents from the four villages of Kitole, Rwemparaki, Bujalya, and Kigwango in Buhimba sub-county, Kikuube district, are celebrating after construction works near completion along Rwemparaki Road.
The 5-kilometer road had gone 20 years without being rehabilitated. It was last rehabilitated by the late Hon. Peregrine Itaza.
Hon. Steven Aseera Rwaitaza, the area member of parliament for Buhaguzi East, disclosed that the works on Rwemparaki Road commenced a month ago with drainage opening, bush clearing, and widening and were advised by engineers that they wait for a month before the second phase commences.
Rwaitaza says they have begun the second phase of the construction, and they are nearing completion of this road that has made people in the area go through a lot of challenges that even caused death due to its impassable condition.
He advised the general public not to mix politics with development but rather to join hands and work together.
Hakim Barongo, a resident of Rwemparaki, says at least they can now access the road to transport their produce to the market and also go to health centers with ease since the construction works have begun because most of the pot halls have been filled and they cannot wait for their completion.
Juliet Akugizibwe, a resident of Kigwango, appreciated Hon. Steven Aseera for fulfilling his promise to them regarding the road and has hope that they will soon wake up on a good road.
Akugizibwe says before the construction works began, as women, they suffered a lot, especially while going to give birth or antenatal.
Dan Atuhura Matovu, a resident of Kitoole, expressed his happiness, saying children no longer arrive late at school because most parts of the road have been worked on, unlike those days.
Atuhura cautioned politicians who only know how to buy alcohol for voters instead of giving them services that are developmental.
