Police speak out on allegations of woman cutting off husband’s private parts in Jinja

He warned that spreading false information can have far-reaching consequences, including undermining social stability.

Jinja: The police in Kiira Region, Jinja City, have dismissed as false the widespread misinformation circulating on social media, which claims that a woman cut off her husband’s private parts in Nawampanda Parish, Butagaya Sub-County, Jinja District.

Authorities have clarified that these claims are entirely misleading and urge the public to disregard unverified information designed to provoke unnecessary debate.

The false claims began circulating on Tuesday afternoon, March 12, 2025, alleging that a woman named Fatuma Kagoya had mutilated her husband. However, according to the verified police report, the actual events unfolded differently.

On Monday, March 10, 2025, Nicholas Dhabuliwo, 31, returned home intoxicated and began verbally abusing and physically assaulting his wife, demanding his three old boxers. His wife, Fatuma Kagoya, 23, searched the house and handed over the boxers. However, Nicholas insisted on a fourth pair, which she could not find.

As a result, he continued to beat her. In self-defense, Fatuma retaliated and stabbed him three times in the chest and once in the left arm. Nicholas sustained minor injuries and was taken to a nearby health facility for treatment. He has since been discharged and is recovering at home.

James Mubi, the Kiira Region Police spokesperson, confirmed that the victim’s private parts were not harmed, contradicting the false social media reports.

Fatuma Kagoya is currently assisting police with investigations at the Central Police Station (CPS) Buwenge. Meanwhile, the station’s Child and Family Protection Officer is offering counseling to the couple to help restore stability in their home.

Nicholas Dhabuliwo, a traditional herbalist, reportedly claimed that his late father’s ghost instructed him to wear the old boxers to enhance his prosperity in the Busoga Sub-Region.

In response, the Kiira Regional Police Command intends to engage with traditional herbalists in Jinja to guide them on ethical practices that do not compromise safety and security.

Mubi emphasized the importance of responsible citizen journalism, stating: “While citizen journalism is valuable, it must adhere to the core principles of fairness, accuracy, right of reply, and verification.”

He warned that spreading false information can have far-reaching consequences, including undermining social stability. He urged the public to prioritize truthfulness to support peace and sustainable socio-economic transformation.
