The injured passengers were rushed to Tororo Main Hospital, where they received immediate medical attention.

Tororo: A tragic road accident left dozens injured after a bus carrying 55 pilgrims overturned at Opedede Corner in Osukuru Town Council, Tororo District.
The yellow Isuzu bus, registration number KCQ 057Q, was being driven by Charles Ndirangu, a 58-year-old Kenyan national. It was returning to Kenya from Namugongo, Kampala, where the passengers had participated in the annual Martyrs Day celebrations.
According to preliminary investigations, the accident occurred at approximately 9:40 a.m on Wednesday morning, June 4th, 2025, while the bus was negotiating a blind bend.
An unidentified truck allegedly attempted to overtake from the opposite direction. In an attempt to avoid a head-on collision, the bus driver swerved sharply to the left, which caused the vehicle to overturn.
Bukedi South Regional Police Spokesperson, IP Moses Mugwe, confirmed the incident and stated that investigations are still ongoing.
“We are still establishing the exact circumstances that led to this crash. Preliminary findings suggest the driver acted swiftly to avoid a collision, but unfortunately, the maneuver caused the bus to overturn,” Mugwe said.
The injured passengers were rushed to Tororo Main Hospital, where they received immediate medical attention. Mugwe added that most of the victims are now in stable condition and responding well to treatment.
Police are still working to identify the unknown truck involved in the near-collision. Authorities are also examining whether speeding, mechanical failure, or other contributing factors played a role in the accident.
Law enforcement is urging motorists to exercise maximum caution, particularly around blind corners and sharp bends, to prevent such incidents.
