Paidha United reappoint Nega as head coach in bid for Big League promotion
Club leaders expressed optimism that the new technical bench and executive team will provide the leadership needed to steer Paidha United back into Uganda's second division.
Zombo: West Nile Regional League side Paidha United SC have appointed CAF C-licensed coach Abraham Nega Ogusi as their new head coach as the club intensifies preparations for the 2026/27 season with the ambition of earning promotion to the FUFA Big League.
Nega, a club legend, returns to the Paidha United dugout for a third spell, having previously coached the team during the 2018/19 and 2023/24 seasons. He replaces Kumakech Aboki, who guided the club last season before handing over to assistant coach Dickson Oyirwoth (DECO) towards the end of the campaign.
Club Chief Executive Officer Levious Ofoymungu announced the appointment during a press conference held at Babylon in Paidha Town Council, expressing confidence in the new technical team.
“The management of Paidha United SC agreed that the time was ripe to welcome you back home. We are also delighted to confirm that coach Oyirwoth Dickson will be in the assistant role,” Ofoymungu said.
He called upon supporters to unite behind the club’s renewed efforts to secure promotion.
Speaking after his unveiling, Nega said his primary objective is to guide Paidha United to the second tier of Ugandan football, stressing that success will require collective effort.
“My target is at least… we want to advance and take this club somewhere, especially the Big League. I can’t do it alone; we need to unite and do it together with management, fans and the technical team,” Nega said.
The Comrades, founded on August 3, 2017 and based in Paidha Town Council, Zombo District, finished eighth in last season’s highly competitive West Nile Regional League.
With the return of newly relegated Nebbi Central FC and other ambitious clubs expected to strengthen their squads, competition in the regional league is anticipated to be even tougher this season.
Nega has already called for quality player reinforcements and pledged to work closely with players, club officials and supporters to build a competitive team capable of achieving promotion.
Paidha United play their home matches at King Stadium Cana on the outskirts of Paidha Town.
Before venturing into coaching, Nega enjoyed a playing career with Paidha Black Angels SC and Police FC. His coaching résumé also includes spells with Nebbi Central FC and Paidha Black Angels SC.
Club unveils new executive
Alongside the coaching appointment, Paidha United held its general meeting at Babylon Guest House Gardens, where members unanimously approved a new executive committee for the 2026/27 season.
The club appointed Mr. Orombi Robert Unegiu as Chairman, Ms. Giramia Joan as Vice Chairperson, and Mr. Tekakwo Sulaiman Uchaki as Second Vice Chairman. Levious Ofoymungu retained the Chief Executive Officer position, assisted by Vice CEO Albert Ubethu.
The meeting also confirmed appointments across the technical, medical, media, disciplinary and advisory departments as the club seeks to strengthen its administrative structures ahead of the new campaign.
