Pakwach: Police in Pakwach district are investigating circumstances under which 40-year-old Acen Evelyn, a businesswoman, was stabbed to death by a man who is currently on the run.

The police spokesperson for West Nile Region, Josephine Angucia, told this publication that they are tracing the whereabouts of the suspect in order to be arrested and face the law.

‘’The suspect escaped away, but his details were obtained, and we are tracking him in order to be arrested and face the law,’’ she explained.

According to Angucia, the incident, which happened on November 18, 2023, at around 9:30 p.m. in Lubiri B village, Puvungu West Ward, was reported by the area general secretary.

In retaliation, some angry people burned down the suspect’s house. Angucia added that police visited the scene of arson at the suspect’s home and found a magazine with cartridges of burnt bullets.

‘’We acted by registering a case of murder, visiting the scene, documenting it, and conveying the lifeless body of Acen Evelyn to Pakwach Health Center IV mortuary for a postmortem,’’ she said, stressing that the motive for stabbing the deceased is not yet established.

Angucia urged the members of the public not to take the law into their own hands but to cooperate with the police in tracing the suspect so as to bring him before the law, noting that inquiries continue under Pakwach CRB 447/2023.
