Minister Aber supports Kitgum VSLA groups with financial support

Kitgum: A total of eight Village Savings and Loans Association (VSLA) groups in Labongo Layamo Subcounty, Kitgum District, have received financial support from the Kitgum District Woman MP, Hon. Aber Lillian, who also serves as the State Minister for Relief, Disaster Preparedness, and Refugees at the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM).
During the handover ceremony on Friday, September 13, 2024, at the Labongo Layamo Subcounty Headquarters, Minister Aber urged the local community to support government initiatives and practice servant leadership rather than succumbing to political hatred.
She encouraged the beneficiaries to use the financial support to strengthen their economic capacity.
Each of the eight VSLA SACCO groups received 400,000 shillings in cash from the minister.
The Labongo Layamo Subcounty Chairperson, Mr. Ayella Thomas Kitumba, urged the beneficiaries to use the capital effectively and called for vigilance and continued support for visionary leaders.
Additionally, Kitgum District Women Council Publicity Secretary, Ms. Adokorach Susan, emphasized the importance of economic empowerment for women and encouraged them to embrace government programs while avoiding external conflicts.
Kitgum District currently comprises 22 subcounties and divisions, 83 parishes, and 668 villages.
